More nutritious products

What it Means

We understand that nutritious products can be more than just good for our health, but also good for our planet. Healthier diets offer opportunities to solve a variety of human health and environmental impacts through sustainable agriculture and nutrition.

Our goal is to meaningfully improve the nutritional value of our products by 2025. This goal aims to improve health outcomes for the community and drive more sustainable outcomes.

It means measuring the health star ratings and health credentials of all our products and coordinating strategies for accelerating efforts to improve the nutritional value of our products. As part of this goal we will also focus efforts on opportunities to address malnutrition, obesity and other health challenges through functional ingredients and/or fortification of food.

What We’ve Achieved

So far, over 800 of our products include at least one health or nutritional claim, which is a great start for our journey ahead. In addition, Helgas and Vogels Digestive Wellbeing Bread is baked using the unique BARLEYmax™ barley seeds, which contain a blend of prebiotic fibres such as fructans, beta glucan and resistant starch. These support digestive wellbeing by helping to feed the good bacteria in the gut.

What’s Next

We will continue to evaluate our current product range and take action to improve these products including a project to improve the Health Star Rating of 35 million loaves of bread in Australia each year. Goodman Fielder will also develop a new nutrition policy, informed by science, which will drive a focus on nutritional outcomes for new and existing products.
