Ensure compliant and ethical business conduct

What It Means

To ensure our business is fit for the future, we recognise the need to ensure there are processes in place that support our ambitious sustainability goals. We recognise that unethical and illegal behaviour undermines our business and drives negative social and environmental impacts. Our standard business practises must reflect our ambition and help us hold ourselves and our business partners accountable for the manner in which we conduct our business. Importantly, this includes identifying and managing business risks, providing grievance mechanisms and embedding sustainable principles into our policies and processes. We want to build on the positive actions we’ve taken to date and to model the behaviour for suppliers and partners alike.

What We’ve Achieved

We have increased our engagement with the SEDEX ethical sourcing platform to improve visibility and management of social risks, environmental performance and working conditions at our facilities (and our suppliers). We have corporate policies and procedures against issues like corruption and bribery, supported by a robust internal audit program and the GF Awareline, an independent and confidential platform for the reporting of concerns, issues or instances of suspected unethical or corrupt conduct.

Responsible Sourcing Code of Conduct

At Goodman Fielder we are working to ensure that our business is fit for the future and we know our success is reliant upon thriving, productive and ethical supply chains. In 2021, we updated our Responsible Sourcing Code of Conduct (the Code) and strengthened our expectations of our suppliers in relation to sustainability, human rights, business ethics, health and safety and the environment.  The Code applies to all our suppliers and we will continually work collaboratively with partners across our supply chain to ensure responsible and sustainable supply chains.

Modern Slavery

At Goodman Fielder, we oppose exploitative practices that violate an individual’s human rights in all forms. In response to Australian modern slavery legislation, we have developed a Modern Slavery Policy which sets out how we will identify, respond to and mitigate modern slavery risks in our Australian operations and supply chain.

Our Modern Slavery Statements submitted to the Australian Federal Government’s Modern Slavery Statements Register also outlines other actions we have taken so far to identify and mitigate modern slavery risks across our operations and supply chain in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). What’s Next

As we progress our sustainability program we will continue to assess our own performance against the benchmarks we set for our suppliers and business partners. We will build a governance framework for our sustainability strategy allowing issues or concern to be raised at the highest levels in our business.
