The winners of the 2022 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards were announced and the Praise 100% Recycled PET (rPet) Bottle was awarded BRONZE in the category: Sustainable Packaging – Recycled Content
Coordinated by the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the PIDA Awards recognise companies and individuals who are making a significant difference in their field across Australia and New Zealand.
All Praise Mayo and Aioli bottles and jars are made using 100% Australian sourced post-consumer recycled plastic. As an Australian-first in the category, the move has been a huge step forward for sustainable packaging - saving 380 tonnes of virgin plastic every year.
Every year, 12.4 million bottles of Praise are consumed across Australia and the 380 tonnes of virgin plastic saved annually is the equivalent of 30 double decker buses.
Under our Better Together Sustainability Strategy, launched in 2021, by 2025 Goodman Fielder have committed to transition all our packaging to be 100% recyclable and that we will use 100% sustainable packaging materials by 2030 (including specific, country specific, average recycled content targets by 2025). We are also actively working towards achieving the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) and the New Zealand Packaging Declaration targets for 2025.
Winning BRONZE at the PIDA Awards recognises the long journey for Goodman Fielder and the Praise team to move towards a circular economy by using sustainable packaging, and we are thrilled that our Praise 100% rPET bottles and jars have been recognised amongst other amazing companies and products who are all striving to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
Craig Walker Senior Packaging Manager – Goodman Fielder Australia commented “Being awarded Bronze for our Praise 100% rPET bottles and jars is a great achievement and recognises the hard work put in place across our sustainability, packaging, research and development and category teams. We are proud that by moving to 100% post-consumer recycled plastic for our Praise bottles and jars we have saved 380 tonnes of virgin plastic.”
The winners of the 2022 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards are now eligible to enter the WorldStar Packaging Awards which will be held in May at Interpack 2023, Dusseldorf, Germany.
