Pressing a shallow "dimple" in the middle of the patty avoids burger shrinkage and the dreaded doming up in the middle.
To get perfectly melted cheese simply place the cheese on the side of the pattie you have just cooked. Return the uncooked pattie to the grill. By the time your pattie is cooked through your cheese will be perfectly melted.
Medium Rare - cook on each side for 4 minutes
Medium - cook on each side for 5 minutes
Well Done – cook on each side for 7+ minutes depending on how well done you like your meat
