Using the goodness of the South Island’s very own Purple Wheat, this loaf is testament to the likes of those baked in the high country station homesteads of New Zealand. Large, substantial loaves with exceptional taste and goodness were baked daily, and became a staple for families living and working on the land. Served straight from the oven, bread made with purple wheat was a favourite served warm and fresh with piping hot vegetable soup on crisp winter days, or smothered with butter and home-made blackberry jam throughout summer.
