Goodman Fielder confirms that 12 employees at its facility in West Footscray have tested positive for COVID-19.   The 12 employees have mild flu-like symptoms.  Our immediate priority is for the health and safety of all employees and they are continuing to receive our full and ongoing support, including our Employee Assistance Programme.

As soon as we received notification of the first positive result, we immediately notified the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and we continue to manage this issue in accordance with the Department’s procedures and guidelines and our own COVID-19 business continuity plan.

In accordance with those guidelines, the site has been closed since last Wednesday (8 July) and has undergone an extensive deep clean and sanitisation.

All site employees have been tested for COVID-19 and have been directed to self-isolate.   The facility will remain closed during this process until it is deemed safe to resume operations.  We expect the site will be closed for a period of 14 days and we are continuing to work directly with the Department in managing this issue.

Our focus remains on the health and well-being of our employees and the ongoing safety of our food products.  

Covid-19 is not a food-borne virus and health organisations advise the public to use normally recommended food hygiene practices when handling food.  Consumers can be assured our products remain safe to consume.
