New Zealand’s most popular light grain bread has set about starting a ‘sandwich renaissance’ with the opening of its first ever pop-up shop. Launching 14 March 2016, The Molenberg Sandwich Shop will be located in the heart of Auckland city at Number 2 Queen Street and will be open for six weeks.

Open from 7am to 3pm daily, The Molenberg Sandwich Shop will serve two hearty breakfast toasties until 10am and six delicious hand-made sandwiches throughout the day. Inner city Aucklanders can choose from:

  • Brekky Toasty: The ever satisfying bacon and free-range egg toastie with fresh aioli and tomato relish
  • French Toasty: A classic French toastie laden with cinnamon
  • Ham it Up: Deliciously sticky glazed ham with edam cheese, lettuce and mustard aioli
  • Pulled Pork ’n’ Roll: The new classic… pulled pork, with hand-sliced coleslaw with homemade BBQ sauce on a Molenberg Long Roll
  • Fab Falafel: Green and good, homemade hummus with fresh falafel and yoghurt and feta dip
  • The Big Beef: Rare roasted beef with aged cheddar, chunky branston pickle and leafy greens
  • Chicken Roasty: Roast chicken with bacon and a creamy avocado aioli
  • #MyMolenberg Winner: Delicious creation from the weekly winner of the #MyMolenberg competition

As you’d expect, all sandwiches will be made with Molenberg, long considered the ideal sandwich bread, perfectly formulated to hold together most sandwich fillings and just the right density to soak up all the flavours.

Designed to reflect the fresh and vibrant flavours of the sandwiches, The Molenberg Sandwich Shop is modern with an emphasis on bringing to life a fresh, light and inviting space. The end result is a stylish yet uncontrived sandwich shop that provides a sandwich haven for Aucklanders to escape to during their lunchbreak and enjoy a gourmet sandwich at affordable prices.

Each week New Zealand’s most creative ‘Sandwich Architects’ will vie for their moment of sandwich fame. The best creations from budding sandwich creators will feature on the menu of The Molenberg Sandwich Shop as part of the #MyMolenberg competition.

Kiwis from around New Zealand will be able to enter their Molenberg Sandwich by taking a photo of it and posting it on Instagram, the Molenberg Facebook page or between 29 February 31 March 2016. Each week for five weeks Molenberg will choose the best sandwich creation, sell it at The Molenberg Sandwich Shop for the week, and give the winner the takings of their sandwich sales. During the sixth and final week of The Molenberg Sandwich Shop all five winning sandwiches will feature on the menu with the overall winner receiving the takings from the sales of the five sandwiches during that week.
